Thursday, April 2l, l92lDAVID MILLARD CHASE, son of LYMAN B. and ELIZABETH M. CHASE, was born at Poughkeepsie, New York, June 20, l848. In l855 he, with his parents and other members of the family, came to Iowa and located on a farm near Garden Grove, where he grew to manhood. Fifteen years were passed by him on a farm near the present site of Leroy and up to the year l888, when he removed to the town of Weldon, where he resided until the time of his decease, which occurred on the llth day of April, l92l, at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 2l days. All of his life, except the first seven years, was passed in Decatur County, Iowa. He was never married, being the only member of a large family who remained single.
When at the age of 44, he joined the Christian Church at Weldon and was an active and consistent member. He is survived by two sisters, and three brothers; MRS. JOSEPHINE N. FOSTER, Max. Nebraska; MRS. SARAH A. MYERS, Columbus Falls, Mont.; EUGENE L. and CYRUS B., both of Bozeman, Montana, and ULRICH J., of San Jacinto, Texas. The immediate cause of death was apoplexy.
Funeral services were held from the Christian Church in Weldon on Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Smythe, assisted by Rev. Larrick, of the Methodist Church. On Monday morning a brief service was held from the Tuttle Undertaking parlors at Van Wert where the body had been cared for since the night of the death and from there was taken to Garden Grove for interment, accompanied by the brother, C.B. CHASE, and a nephew, ABEL WINTERS.
