Thursday, January l3, l92lMADABELLE FANN, the little four year old daughter of MRS. ROY PHILLIPS, died Wednesday night of last week after eating tablets that the child had found at the PHILLIPS home just north of Leon.
The child and the other children of the family were playing about while their mother was busy at her work. About fifteen minutes of six o'clock, the little girl, who is not quite four years old, became suddenly very ill. MRS. PHILLIPS telephoned for physicians. MR. PHILLIPS was down town having come down a short time before, after finishing his evening's work, to get some things for supper. Word was sent down on the street from the telephone office and MR. PHILLIPS was soon located and he rushed home. The child showed all symptoms of poisoning and the physicians worked hard in their efforts to save the child but were unable to do so. Death came at 7:45 o'clock. After the death of the child, a box of tablets that contained strychnine, were located, a part of them showing that the child had chewed them. How many the child might have swallowed they do not know.
The funeral was held on Friday. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in the tragic and sad death of this little child.
