Decatur County Journal
Thursday, January 27, l92l

ALONIAL MARK, little son of MR. and MRS. MARK RIDDLE, Woodland Township, Decatur County, Iowa, was born July llth, l9l8; departed this life at home Monday afternoon, January l0th, l92l, at four p.m., age 2 years, 5 months and 23 days. He was a beautiful child of a loving, trustful disposition, dearly loved by his parents, little sister, DURINE, grandparents and by all who knew him. At the age of 7 months he underwent a very serious operation for mastoids, since which time he has been called upon to suffer when affected by a severe cold. He had been in poor health since the death of his grandfather RIDDLE, which occurred on Dec. llth, l920.

On the Wednesday preceding his demise he grew worse, since which time he was under the care of attending physicians. He received every care that loving hearts and kind hands could bestow. He was conscious up until noon of the day when death came. On Sunday afternoon when the physicians were leaving he bid them good-bye. Sunday night he requested his mama to take him from his little bed that he might sleep with her. On Monday near noon he said to his father, "Papa, I am so sick." At this time he conversed with his parents and attendants for a little time, after which he fell into a peaceful sleep and the spirit at this time leaving the little body to go back to God who gave it.

He leaves to mourn his early departure, the loving parents, little sister, DURINE, grandparents, MR. and MRS. LAFE HUTCHINSON, of Leon, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon, January l2th, l92l, at 2 p.m., conducted by P.H. Green. A large number of neighbors and friends were present in sympathy with the bereaved ones. Interment was made in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
