Thursday, November l8, l920MRS. A.O. PATTERSON, mother of MRS. WALTER OSBORNE, of Leon, died last Saturday night at her home in Davis City following an accident occurring on the previous Wednesday. MRS. PATTERSON was standing on a chair putting up a stove pipe when in some way she fell striking her side on one of the side pieces of the chair back fracturing two ribs and causing internal injuries. She did not at first think the injuries were serious but soon began to grow worse and so continued until death came.
MRS. OSBORNE was with her during her illness and another daughter, MRS. GEO. L. JACKSON, of Oklahoma City, started for Davis City when the serious nature of her mother's illness became apparent, but did not reach there until after MRS. PATTERSON's death. Her daughter, MRS. FANNIE RADNICH, residing in California, is now enroute to Davis City. Funeral arrangements had not been announced when the Journal went to press. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all.

Decatur County Journal
Thursday, December 2, l920ELLA (HARVEY) PATTERSON was born in Decatur County, Iowa, three miles west of Davis City, March 5, l856, and died at her home in Davis City early Sunday morning, November l4, l920. Her parents were REFINE and ELEANOR HARVEY and she has always lived in this county. January l, l875, she was married to THOMAS C. JACKSON. To this union were born four children, namely, FRANK E. JACKSON, who resides in Hurley, South Dakota, MRS. NELLIE M. OSBORNE, Leon, Iowa, MRS. RUTH EDMONDINE JACKSON, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and MRS. FANNIE E. RADNICH, Berkeley, California. Her husband, MR. JACKSON, died May 3l, l890, leaving to her the care of her little family. How courageous and faithfully she performed her task, all who knew her will bear witness. "Her children rise up and call her blessed," and a good Providence permits all to be present on this occasion.
Janury l6, l897, she was married to ANSEL O. PATTERSON, who, with the children named, survives her.
Early in life she became a Christian, uniting with the United Brethren Church. Later she transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church. Prehaps the highest praise we may give to a fellow being is to say she was "good and faithful." This could be said of MRS. ELLA PATTERSON, faithful to neighbors in time of need, faithful to the church, to the Sunday School to her Sunday School work with the little folks. She will be missed, but her memory is blessed.
The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist Church, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. W.B. Thompson and attended by a large concourse of neighbors and friends. Interment was in the old Cemetery.
