Thursday, February l2, l920MELVINA, eldest daughter of MR. and MRS. G.W. BLAKESLEY was born September l2, l856, at Leon, Iowa, and departed this life February 8th, l920, being 63 years, four months and 27 days old. She was united in marriage to MR. CHARLES C. CAMPBELL December 28, l875. To this union were born eight children, two dying in infancy and the eldest son seven years ago. The remaining children are MRS. ETTA VAN HORN and MRS. ELLA VAN HORN of Iowa Park, Wichita County, Texas; MRS. ETHEL FISHER, of Spencer, S.D.; MRS. EVA ALBAUGH, of Leon; and GEO. CAMPBELL, of St. Joseph, Mo., who with the husband are left to mourn the loss of one they loved so well. She also leaves one sister, MRS. S.A. DALE, and two brothers, GEORGE and JOHN BLAKESLEY.
In early youth she gave her heart to God and united with the New Salem Baptist Church and ever remained a faithful Christian.
She lived all her life within half a mile of her girlhood home. Until two weeks ago, her health, which had been failing for over a year, became such that she was removed to the home of her daughter, MRS. JOHN ALLBAUGH, where surrounded by her only sister, her husband and her children, she fell asleep in Jesus.
Funeral services were held at New Salem Church, February l0th, l920, and the body laid to rest by her son, ELBERT, there to await the resurrection morn.
Farewell, mother, sometime,
Somewhere, when all is well,
We'll cross Death's river
And again with thee dwell.
