SUSAN ZIKA was born August 5, l850, near Hagerstown, Ind. She, with her parents, MR. and MRS. SAMUEL GOODMAN, moved to Decatur County, Iowa, when she was four years old, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to FRANK ZIKA, May 5, l87l. After spending about eleven more years in this state, she, with her husband moved to Dakota where they lived seven years, returning to Iowa in l890, where they have since resided. They have lived on the present home place in Clarke County since the spring of l895.

The deceased went to visit her daughter, MRS. F.M. DAVIS, near Crown where she became ill and passed away, January l6th, l920, aged 69 years, 5 months and ll days. To this union were born four children: MRS. ANNA F. DAVIS, Weldon, Iowa; MRS. MARY SMITH, Osceola, Ia.; GEO. A. ZIKA, Ottumwa, Ia., EDWARD A. ZIKA, Weldon, Ia., all of whom with their aged father and ten grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends, remain to mourn her departure.

About four weeks ago she made public confession of her Savior and expressed a desire to unite with his church. Thus passes from our midst another old settler, who was a true friend and an honorable citizen. Funeral services were held at the church in Leslie, conducted by J.F. Garber. The remains were interred in the Green Bay Cemetery, which is near her old home.
