Thursday, September l8, l9l9LUCRETIA ELIZABETH SMITH, daughter of THOMAS J. and ANGELINE SMITH, was born near Bloomingsburg, Ohio, August 6th, l853, and passed away at her home near Leon, Iowa, September 9th, l9l9, aged 66 years, l month and 3 days. For almost two years she had been a constant sufferer from heart trouble, death coming as a blessed relief.
When a mere girl she professed faith in her Savior and united with the Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member at the time of her death, leading a beautiful Christian life. She was a lovable daughter and sister, living her whole life for those around her. She forgot herself and lived for those she loved. After great suffering she has gone to meet her Savior and the loved ones gone on before. She leaves to mourn her death, three brothers and one sister: JOHN E. SMITH, of Delaware, Ohio; JOSEPH N. SMITH, EVA E. SMITH and ED. C. SMITH, of Leon, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services, which were very beautiful and comforting, were held at the home. Rev. Campbell, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. She was laid to rest in the family lot in the Leon Cemetery. Not dead. Oh, no, just gone on before.
