Jean Ann Fisher was born March 9, 1947, to Richard and Lohre [Davis] Fisher at Leon, Iowa. She was the second of six children and lived most of her life in Lamoni, Iowa. Even though cancer took over her physical body, she remained a positive inspiration to many.

Jean Ann died November 17, 1992, at her home in Lamoni.

She was a kind, loving mother who faced much adversity but bore it with heroic endurance and with courage and faith in her Heavenly Father.

Her graceful cheerful countenance brought joy and comfort to many. She was a soft-spoken caring woman who would go out of her way to avoid offending anyone. She was a good friend, honest, and fair, and wanted others to be also. Jean Ann enjoyed photography and also being outdoors.

Jean Arm was baptized into the RLDS Church on Children's Day at the age of nine and remained dedicated to her commitment by serving in various capacities, including church school educator and women's department roles. Church was always an important part of her life. She enjoyed singing and missed it dearly when she was unable to because of her health.

Jean Ann graduated from Lamoni High School in 1965 and worked as a very competent secretary supporting her children Rick, Kari, Steve, and herself for many years. She attended Graceland College—a decision that was made after much thought and prayer. She said that she and God were going to college together—you couldn't beat a team like that! She attained her goal of getting her Bachelor's degree in Business Education and strived to assist in doing God's work. She was very grateful for the support and love she received from many people.

At the time of her death, Jean Ann was enrolled in the Masters of Arts program in Education at Northwest Missouri State University.

In August 1987 she began teaching business at North Harrison High School in Eagleville, Missouri. The children and youth were extremely cherished by her as she sought to make each one feel special and important.

In 1969 she joined the Order of the Eastern Star and was an active member, serving as an officer for many years. This organization was extremely important to her and she was very thankful for the love and friendship she received from her sisters and brothers.

On July 18, 1987, she married Elmer Stevenson and gained four sons (Tim and wife Tammy, John, James, and Tom) and a daughter (JoAnna), and two grandsons (Trent and Trevor). Jean Ann wrote in her autobiography that Elmer was the most wonderful companion, father, and grandfather that anyone could ever have.

Jean Ann is survived by her husband Elmer Stevenson of Lamoni, 3 children: Douglas Richard (Rick), Kern Leanne, and Steven Leroy Roswell; a most precious granddaughter Ashlie Leanne—these brought great joy to her life and she was very proud of them, praying daily for their happiness and peace.

She is also survived by her parents, Richard and Lohre Fisher, three sisters: Janice Fisher, Sandra Ogier and husband Anthony; and Donna Kempf and husband David; two brothers James Fisher and wife Charlene, and John Fisher, nieces: Stephanie Kempf, Tara Ogier, and Pamela and Rachel Fisher, nephews: Todd and Travis Ogier, and Isaac Fisher, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 1992, at the Lamoni R.L.D.S Church in Lamoni, Iowa with Elders Leslie W. Kohlrnan, Lester Stevenson, and Bill Ballantyne officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni with Kellerton 0.e.S. #478 participating. Services were conducted by the Slack - O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni.
