Mrs. Duane Stevenson died in the Mt. Ayr hospital Sunday morning, Dec. 5. She had been taken there two days before and the suddenness of her death was a shock to family, friends, and community.

Eudora Ellen Garrett, daughter of Elmer and Louise (Holmes) Garrett, was born Sept. 22, 1913, at Keithsburg, Ill. She lived In that neighborhood until 1928, when she moved with her family to Nauvoo, Ill.

That same year she was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and entered actively in its life. After graduation from the Nauvoo public high school, she attended Western State college at Macomb, III., for two years.

On Jan. 6, 1938, she was married to Duane Stevenson. His 19 month-old-son, Charlie Robert, now a student at Graceland college, she mothered as her own. In the years that followed other sons and daughters were born.

Surviving are seven sons and four daughters: Lester, Carl, Arlo, Linda, Elmer, Janet, Ellen, Leo, Bonnie, Cecil, and Joseph.

Two Infant daughters and Bonnie's twin brother, Donnie, who lived for 10 months, preceded her, as have her parents and an older brother.

Three brothers and two sisters are still living.

In the spring of 1951, the family moved to a farm in the Evergreen neighborhood. There they became active members of the Evergreen RLDS congregation.

With all her household duties, she shared in the congregational life, especially in the activities of the women's department. Her faithfulness in attending and in bringing her family has been an inspiration to many. She gave herself unstintedly to her family life. For her there came merited rest. To those left behind falls the work of carrying on the family life she so nobly began.

Funeral services were held In the Lamoni RLDS church Wednesday, Dec. 8, with Roy A. Cheville speaking and Alma Heide offering the prayer. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
