JOHN R. PEUGH was born near Grand View, Louisa County, Iowa, January 30, l85l, and died at his home in Leon, Iowa, December 29, l9l6, being 65 years and ll months of age. Most of his boyhood days were spent on a farm north of Leon.

On March 6th, l870, he was joined in marriage to MARY M. MARTIN, to which union five children were born, all of whom, with their mother, remain to mourn his departure. The daughter, MRS. MARY J. FROUT, of Mildred, Minnesota, and sons, JOHN LEWIS, of Magna, Utah; BURT O., of Ft. Collins, Colo.; were unable to be present, and GEORGE and DON, of Leon. He also leaves a brother, CHAS. PEUGH, of near Leon, and a sister, MRS. JIM CARR, of Shenandoah.

In l882 JOHN PEUGH joined himself to the Holiness Church and lived a consistent Christian life until his death.
Funeral services were held from the Brethren Church. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery.
