Decatur County Journal
Thursday, October l2, l9l6MATAPHANY KELLER was born February 7, l866, in Decatur County, Iowa, and departed this life October 7, l9l6, aged 50 years, 8 months. The home was north of Leon near the Fairview Church where three of the sisters have lived alone for some time. The father and mother and two brothers have preceded her to the great beyond. Death comes unbidden and takes away those on whom loved ones have bestowed much labor and service that fraternal relation would prompt. Her death leaves the home sadder still.
MISS KELLER united with the church at Fairview when she was about sixteen years old and that relation has been sustained through all the years that have intervened. "Will Their Be Any Stars in My Crown" was sung by the choir and it was the last song the deceased ever sang.
There are two brothers and five sisters left to mourn her death. These were all present for the last sad rites, save two sisters, MRS. SARAH STRONG, of Clinton, Oklahoma, and MRS. MARTHA BAKER, of Woodland, California.
Their many relatives and friends join them in true sympathy in their great sorrow. The funeral services were held October 8, in the Fairview church, A.B. Cornell, Minister of the Church of Christ, preaching the sermon. Rev. Weyrauch assisted in the service. The body was laid in its final resting place beside other relatives in the Shi (sic) Cemetery.
