Thursday, September 30, l9l6VAN WERT NEWS:
The people of this place were greatly shocked on Thursday evening when word was rapidly circulated that ELMER SMITH had been found dead, having fallen just where he was at work, the tools lying as they fell from his hands. He had been lifeless some little time when discovered. ELMER had lived here the greater part of his life and was known and appreciated by the scores of people with whom he had been associated in business and church work. The body was taken to the home of MR. and MRS. A.E. PRICE.
The funeral services were held in the Christian Church Saturday, conducted by his Pastor, Rev. A.B. Cornell. He leaves one sister, MRS. E.P. HALL, of Clarke County, and a number of other relatives to mourn his death. The heartfelt sympathy of all goes out to those sorrowing relatives and friends.
