JAMES ALBERT, the youngest son of STEPHEN and SARAH SCOTT, was born near Garden Grove, Iowa, on September 25, l86l and departed this life near Weldon, Iowa, August l2, l9l7, at the age of 55 years, l0 months and l7 days.

He resided near Garden Grove until the year l886, when he went to Kansas, residing in Grove County, for l6(?) years. Moving from there in l90l to Decatur County, where he lived until his death. In the winter of l888 he was united in marriage to ANNA T. STANSBURY, of Oakley, Kansas, who preceded him in death only seven weeks. To this union six children were born, MRS. ORSEN PEASE, MRS. DWIGHT SNYDER, ANDREW, ROSCOE, EVERETT and LILLIAN, who survive him. Besides his children and five grandchildren, he leaves two sisters and three brothers, MRS. VINA MCCOLLOUGH, of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and MRS. BELLE WHITACRE, of Austin, Colo., WILLIAM, HENRY and GEORGE SCOTT, all of Decatur County, Iowa, besides numerous relatives and friends.

He professed faith in Christ and united with the Christian Church in l9ll. He had been afflicted for many months following a severe injury from which he never fully recovered. The death of his wife proved a great added shock. With his death the children have lost a kind father, the community a good neighbor.

The funeral was held from the Brethren Church at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday. Services were by G.T. Ronk, of Fairfield. Interment at Leon Cemetery.
