J.J. WALLS was born September 24th, l850, in Sullivan County, Indiana. He came to Decatur County at an early age. He was converted and professed faith in Christ about thirty years ago at Mt. Ayr, Iowa. He was married to ELIZABETH HEGGS November 2, l893. He died September lst, l9l6. He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, one sister, one daughter, three nieces and three nephews. His father, mother and one sister preceded him to the land of rest some years before.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m., September 2nd. Evangelist Armstrong read a part of the 5th Chapter of IICorinthians and spoke from Hebrews 9-27; "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the Judgment." Evangelist Slawson and wife assisted in the singing and sang a beautiful duet which touched the hearts of all of the large congregation who came with many floral tributes to the memory of the departed. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery.
