WILLIAM C. HEMELRICH, a former well known resident of Leon and Decatur County, was struck by lightning and killed last Sunday evening at his home near St. Joseph. MR. HEMELRICH was for many years in the service of the Burlington road working his way up to a position as road master. Some years ago he resigned and bought a farm near St. Joseph, upon which he has since resided. The following concerning MR. HEMELRICH's death appeared in the St. Joseph News-Press Monday morning of this week:

While bringing in his cows at milking time, WILLIAM C. HEMELRICH, fifty-nine years old, a farmer, living three miles south of St. Joseph, was killed by lightning Sunday evening at 6:l5 o'clock.

It was cloudy and raining when he started and when he did not return in the usual time a daughter, MISS ADA HEMELRICH, growing worried, went to look for him. She found him lying on the ground, in an open pasture. Dr. J.B. Reynolds, who was called, pronounced death the result of a stroke of lightning.

MR. HEMELRICH is survived by two daughters, MRS. F.B. OCHELTREE, of St. Joseph, and MISS ADA HEMELRICH, who lived at home. He was a member of Olive Branch, W.O.O. No. l2.
