BERNARD AUGUSTUS BRIGGAMAN was born in Basil Hanover Germany, September l4, l877 and died at Leon, Iowa August 3, l9l6, age 38 years, l0 months and l3 days. At the age of ll he came to America and first made his home at Cincinatti, Ohio. In all he has made three trips to an from the Fatherland. He moved to Leon, Iowa forty years ago and has made his home near here practically all of that time.

He was married to IDA B. HIMMELRICH (sic), February 2, l888. To this union four daughters were born, all of them living at the present time; MABEL FERN, SARAH ANNA, IDA VIOLET and IVA VIOLA. His wife preceded him to the better land February 29, l892. For a time their home was broken up but eleven years ago the family was brought together again and have kept house ever since.

MR. BRIGGAMAN lived in the principality of Hanover during the regime of the Blind Prince and was a citizen of that principality when it became a part of the German Empire after the war of l866. He was reared in the German Catholic Church and did not identify himself with any of the church organizations after coming to America. He became a member of the Odd Fellows Order, June l3th, l903, and has been a faithful member to this day. He has been in the employ of the Burlington road in one capacity or another practically all his life. He belongs to that faithful army of toilers who have done so much for our safety and comfort and whose faithfulness is too little recognized in this modern commercial age. He was a man conservant in religious matters and has never gotten away from the faith planted in his life by the teachings of childhood. We only wish that more of our modern children could receive such training.
