Decatur County Journal
Thursday, March 9, l9l6

MARY PAULINE STILL was born February 25, l843
and departed this life,
February 25, l9l6, aged 73 years. She was
born in Montgomery, Mo.,
having come to Iowa when quite young and with
the exception of a few
years spent in Missouri and Kansas, all her
life has been spent in Iowa.

She was united in marriage to JOHN MCDANIEL,
November 25, l860, and to
this union were born eleven children, four
having preceded her to the
great beyond, three in infancy and BARNEY at
the age of 4l years.

Those left to survive her are SAMUEL, EDWARD
and WILLIAM, of Washington,
MRS. J.M. BROWN, of Coy, Oklahoma; HARVE, of
Davis City, Iowa; MARY and
ANNIE of Leon. Her husband died March 3l,
l9l5.
MRS. MCDANIEL had been afflicted for a number
of years before the death
of her husband and a short time prior to his
death, he requested that
she be placed in the hospital at Clarinda,
where she has been since
April l6, l9l5, and when her death occurred
at l0:30 Friday evening and
on account of a delayed message, none of her
children were at her
bedside.

MRS. MCDANIEL was a woman of few words,
possessed of a good, Christian
character and her demise is sadly deplored by
her children and friends.
She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to
the suffering in time of
need and her friends were numbered by her
acquaintances. She has gone
on to be with her loved ones at home, and
there awaits the coming of her
children. The funeral was held from New
Salem Church, Monday, February
28, conducted by Rev. Dale, where the remains
were laid to rest.
