MARGARET CLARK was born July 25th, l825, in Franklin Co., Penn., and
died in Garden Grove, Iowa, at her late residence, May 26, l903, being
77 years, l0 months and l day old. In the year l847 the deceased was
married to ANDREW P. SWOPE, who preceded her in death by several years.
To this union l2 children were born, all of whom are still living. In
l867, MR. and MRS. SWOPE came to Iowa and settled in High Point Twp.
Their long residence in this county has entitled them to be known as old
settlers.
Early in life, MRS. SWOPE united with the M.E. Church, of which she has
continued a faithful member until her death. She was innocent and
unassuming in manner and deportment, but was faithful and loyal in her
devotion to her Master and the church of her choice. Funeral services
were conducted in the Garden Grove M.E. Church May 28, l903, by Rev.
I.N. Woodward of Leon, Iowa. Interment was made in the High Point
Cemetery.
