Decatur County Journal
Thursday, March 9, l9l6

BERTIE B. TULLIS, son of BERT and MARY
TULLIS, was born at Leon, Iowa,
August l, l898. After a serious illness of
three weeks he died at the
home of his parents, March l, l9l6, age l7
years, 7 months.

BERTIE was preceded to the other shore by
four brothers, who died in
infancy. There remains to mourn his absence,
the parents, and brother,
of the immediate family, grandfather, aunts
and uncles and a host of
friends.

He became a member of the Christian Church
during the revival of Elder
Harris some years ago and has held membership
with this church ever
since. He was also a member of the
Homesteaders Lodge, and at the time
of his death had been a member only a short
time.

BERTIE was a kind-hearted, serious lad, loved
by his friends and the
especial stay of his mother. During his
suffering he was unusually
patient and manifested great strength in his
fight with suffering and
disease. He was appreciative of every
kindness shown him. The day
before passing, he comforted his parents by
an expression of hope that
there would be a reunion in Heaven. This
example of fidelity,
faithfulness and courage is a heritage for us
everyone, but more
especially for those of his immediate family.

Funeral services were conducted from the
home, March 3rd, by Henry Esch,
Pastor of the Christian Church. Services
were under the auspices of the
Homesteaders Lodge.
