CHRISTINA JOHNSON was born in High Point
Township, Decatur County, Iowa,
November l5, l859, being a daughter of HENRY
JOHNSON. She united with
the Church of the Brethren in the spring of
l877. She was married to
JOHN S. LAVENDER January 2, l88l, at the
parents' home in High Point
Township. She and her husband continued to
reside in this locality for
a number of years but in the fall of l887
they moved to Des Moines,
Iowa, and subsequently to Dallas County,
Iowa, Labette County, Kansas,
Nemaha County, Nebraska, Wyoming, St. Joseph,
Mo., and returned to Leon
a short time ago.

When she was called to her reward she was the
mother of two boys and had
three grandchildren. Her son, IRA, lives in
Webster City, Iowa, and
GEO. W. in Wyoming. She was a member of a
large family of sixteen
children in all, seven dead and nine living.
The interment was at High
Point and funeral services were conducted by
F.A. Garber assisted by
Rev. Duling, of Garden Grove.
