SARAH ELLEN RENKENBERGER was born in Stark
County, Ohio, November 5,
l832, and died at the home of her daughter,
MRS. W.C. EPPERLEY near
Davis City, July 30, l9l5, aged 82 years, 8
months and 25 days.

She was united in marriage to AUGUST
HEMELRICH in Stark County, Ohio,
March l, l855, and to this union eight
children were born, three sons
and five daughters of whom two sons and two
daughters are left to mourn
their loss: WM. C. of St. Joe, Mo., JOHN A.,
of Benson, Neb., ALICE
BERG, of Omaha, Neb., and HULDA EPPERLEY, of
near Davis City, with whom
she has made her home since the death of her
husband, April 2, l9l2.
She also leaves twenty-two grandchildren and
twenty-four great
grandchildren. Three daughters
and one son have preceded her to the great
beyond.

In early married life MR. and MRS. HEMELRICH
moved to Decatur County,
Iowa, where she has since made her home,
making the trip in a covered
wagon, drawn by oxen and went through all the
hardships of pioneer life,
seeing Leon grow from four houses to the
paved streets of the present
time.

In early life she united with the
Presbyterian Church and has since
lived an earnest Christian life. She was a
devoted wife and mother, a
kind neighbor, always ready to help those in
need.
Funeral services were held at Bethel Church,
Sunday, August l, l9l5,
conducted by Rev. Elba Dale. Her remains
were laid to rest beside those
of her aged companion in the Leon Cemetery.
