Central City, Merrick County, NebraskaWalter D. Larsen, 84, of Central City, Nebraska, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at his home. Memorial services are Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Trent Wagner officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.

Walt was born on July 10, 1932 in Central City, Nebraska. Walt worked various jobs including on a ranch, helping build the Oahe Dam, and working at Paddock Siding near Central City. He then worked for Atlantic Homes for 25 years retiring as a foreman.
Walt had a special love for his cattle. He spent a lot of time at the cattle sale in Fullerton, Nebraska.
He is survived by his wife Frances of Central City, NE; six children – Walter (Billie Jo) Larsen; Roy (Deb) Larsen; John (Peggy) Larsen; Mark Larsen all of Pierre, SD; Doug Larsen of Central City, NE; four step children - Barb (Kenny) Lautenschlager of Mission Viejo, CA; Julie (Ron) Kula of Central City, NE; Garry and Connie Hillmer of Central City, NE; and Bill and Missy Hillmer of Palmer, NE; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; very special friend – Gary Marti of Central City, who helped Walt out all the time.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren – Tyler Hillmer, Jocelyn Larsen, and Matt Larsen; five brothers and two sisters.
[Walt served in the National Guard for two years, then with the U.S. Army from September, 1950 to May, 1954. He was stationed in Germany in June, 1951.]
