Mrs. J. O. Cherry.

Mary Elizabeth Kline was born in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, October 15, 1843, and died at Leroy, Iowa, April 25, 1917, aged 73 years, 6 months and 9 days.

Her parents, Tobias ad Mary Kline, removed with their family to Jackson county, Iowa, in 1851, where Mary Elizabeth lived until her marriage to J[ohn]. O. Cherry, of Muskingum county, Ohio, on July 4, 1865, at Zwingle, Iowa, where they resided until 1869, and then removed to Decatur county, Iowa, where they have resided until the time of her death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Cherry have been born seven children, five of whom survive her: Ida Cherry Seay, of Los Angeles, California; Emma Cherry Bingham, of Vantura (sic, should be Ventura), California; John Kline Cherry, of San Bernardino, California; Josephine Cherry Heaton, of Decatur county, Iowa; Ora Cherry Beckenridge, of Fresno, California; and Carrie who died in infancy and Harry M. who died in 1907.

Mrs. Cherry is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Pentico, of Colfax, Iowa, and Mrs. Susan Reynolds, of Twin Falls, Idaho.

Mrs. Cherry united with the German Reformed church early in life. In 1880 she and her husband united with the Presbyterian church at Garden Grove, and later removed their membership to the Presbyterian church at Leroy, Iowa, where Mr. Cherry has been ruling elder, for many years.

Throughout her long life Mrs. Cherry was an earnest and consecrated christian, quiet, unobtrusive, loyal to her church and devoted to its welfare to the limit of her strength.

The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Leroy on Sunday, April 29th, conducted by Rev. F.A. Heizer and Rev. John Wilson, and interment was in the Garden Grove cemetery.
