THE HARVEST OF DEATH

The Grim Reaper Gathered in Many Decatur County Citizens
During Closing Days of the Old Year.

Walter Daughton.

Walter Daughton was born in Decatur county and departed this life in Grand River, Iowa, on Dec. 5, 1918, being 33 years old.

He leaves to mourn his loss a father [James Daughton], a mother [Hannah (Griffin) Daughton], five brothers and two sisters: Will, living at Beaconsfield; James, Emmett, Fred and Ralph at Grand River; Mrs. John Tapscott at Des Moines; Mrs. Homer Buell at Van Wert, Iowa; and one brother, Leo, having been buried just seven weeks before [Water's] death. He was a bright and properous young man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Saturday at his home in Grand River. Interment in the Catholic Cemetery [Saint Marys Cemetery, Woodland Township, Decatur County]. He was highly respected by his friends and an immense floral tribute bear[s] testimony of their sorrow at his death. He is gone but not forgotten.
