James D. Millsap, 89, passed away November 26, 2010, at Sunnyview Care Center, Ankeny, Iowa.

James was born July 10, 1921, in Decatur, IA to Fred and Mary Millsap. He married A. Grace Mitchell on January 7, 1948, in Des Moines. James proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1972.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, A. Grace Mitchell, his brother, Clarence Millsap, and a nephew, Carl Millsap.

He is survived by sister-in-law Marie Millsap, nieces and nephews, Margaret Myers, Myron (Judy) Millsap, Martha Midgorden, and Anne (Fendall) Dreher; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Scott Millsap, Sally Briggs, Mark (Lori) Millsap, Carol Benson, Carly Millsap, Karen (Frank) Gosch, Linda Myers, David (Dawn) Myers, Brian (Sheri) Millsap, Marcie Millsap, Paula (Kyle) Midgorden-Simons, Peggy (Jon) Daugherty, Penny (Bruce) Bellville, Daniel (Tina) Dreher, Amy (Mark) Gossman, and Janet (David) Dowell; and many other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, IA.
