Cora Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Miller) Butcher
May 30, 1895 ~ November 26, 1982

Cora Elizabeth, daughter of Larkin Miller and Cora Blackburn Miller, was born May 30, 1895 at Davis City, Iowa and died Nov. 26, 1982 at the Leon Care Center, Leon, Iowa, age 87 years, 5 months, and 25 days. She had resided since July 2, 1981 at Leon Care Center.

Lizzie grew up and attended country school in Decatur County.

She was married [to] George Riley Butcher Sept. 29, 1909 at Davis City, Iowa. To this union were born four boys and two girls: Clarence Riley, Rollie James, Johnnie, Reason Leroy, Edna and Dolly.

She had many interests through her life but especially enjoyed her grandchildren. In 1979 Lizzie joined the Assembly of God Church at Chariton, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were husband, George; sons: Rollie James, Reason Leroy and Clarence Riley; a grandson Gerald Dean Butcher; brother, Johnnie Miller; and sister, Crystal Craig.

Survivors include: son, Johnnie Butcher and wife, Mildred, Washburn, Mo.; two daughters: Dolly Young and husband Darrell, Decatur, Iowa; and Edna Mills and husband Garould, Decatur; daughter-in-law, Sarah Butcher, Farley, Iowa; sister-in-law, Verna Norman, Decatur; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Decatur Cemetery.]
