Heart Attack Was Fatal to George Butcher Saturday

Was Working At Sargeants Quarry West of Decatur
When Attack Occurred: Employed By Firm for Fifteen Years

George Butcher, 63, of Decatur suffered at heart attack while at work at the Sargent (sic, should be Seargeant) Brothers Quarry, west of Decatur Saturday afternoon [May 24, 1953] at 3:30 and died instantly. According to Dr. W. N. Doss, acting coroner, death was due to a heart attack.

Mr. Butcher was a driller and dynamite man with Sargeant Brothers quarry and had been employed by the firm for the past fifteen years. He did mostly dynamite work, according to W. A. Poush, bookkeeper for the firm. Six men were working with Butcher when he suffered the fatal attack.

Besides his wife [Cora Elizabeth "Lizzie (Miller)], he leaves three sons [Clarence Riley, Rollie James, Reason Leroy] and two daughters [Dolly Marie and Edna Evaline].

Funeral service were held at the Stewart Funeral home at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday with interment in the Decatur cemetery.
