Clarence RIley Butcher, son of George and Lizzie Miller Butcher, was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Decatur County, Iowa, and died at his home in Farley, Iowa, June 19, 1979, age 67 years, 5 months and 26 days, apparently of a heart attack.

He was united in marriage to Sarah M. Akes Feb. 8, 1939. To this union were born three sons and four daughters. He and [his] family moved from Decatur County to Farley in 1959.

He retired from L. A. Light Quarries about 5 years ago.

Surviving are widow Sarah; children: Mrs. Dick (Mary Lou) Palmer, Des Moines; Jim, Farley; Mrs. Alan (Bonnie) Gloeckner, Dubuque; Jack, Dyersville; Mrs. Paul (Patty) Feller; Charles Butcher, Dubuque; and Mrs. Scott (Debbie) Potter, Monona, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; four sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; mother, Lizzie Butcher; sisters: Mrs. Darryl (Dolly) Young and Mrs. Gerald (sic, should be Garould) (Edna) Mills, all of Decatur; brother, John Butcher, Chariton, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
