Decatur County Journal
Thursday, June l0, l9l5

CHARLIE CAMBRY CREES was born January 30,
l9l4, and died June 4, l9l5,
aged one year, four months and four days.
Little CHARLIE was sick only
about nine days and while everything was done
for him which was possible
there was little hope from the beginning of
his illness of his
recovery. CHARLIE was a precious treasure in
the home and the parents
have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole
community in this their great
sorrow. Being the only child of the parents,
the loss of the little one
is the more keenly felt. It is a beautiful
thought of one of our
essayists that God sends these little ones as
angels from His presence
to teach us of what Heaven consists and takes
them again to Himself so
our thoughts will be turned the more to Him
and the eternal home beyond
this visible world.

Brief funeral services were held at the home
of the parents in the
presence of sorrowing relatives and friends
by Rev. E.B. Scoggan,
assisted by chosen singers and the little
body was laid to rest in the
Wheelis Cemetery.

"He is not dead--the child of
our affection,

But gone unto that school

Where he no longer needs our
poor protection,

And Christ Himself doth rule.

"In that great cloister's
stillness

and seclusion

By guardian angels led,

Safe from temptation, safe from

sin's polution,

He lives, whom we call dead."

Longfellow.
