CATHERINE COLE was born in Knoxville, Tenn.,
April 27, l825, and died in
Leon, Iowa, June 4, l9l5, aged 90 years, l
month and 7 days. She grew
to womanhood near the place of her birth; was
united in marriage to
WILLIAM J. DARR in l845. Shortly after her
marriage they removed to
Iowa, living for a short time in Davis
County, and then coming to
Decatur County, where they have lived since
early in the fifties. In
early life they were members of the
Presbyterian Church, but after
removing to Leon, united with the Christian
Church and were both
faithful members of the same, until the call
came to come up higher.

To this union nine children were born, five
of whom are still living.
They are: MRS. J.B. BRUCE, of Kansas City,
Kansas; MRS. J.A. HARRIS,
MRS. LUCY D. RAY, WILLIAM J. DARR, of Leon
and MRS. SALLIE COYNE, of
Minneapolis. The husband died November 9,
l908. For about twenty years
they made their home with their daughter MRS.
RAY. After his death,
MRS. DARR felt so much the loss of her life
companion, still she was
cheerful and bore her loss with the bravery
of a woman with faith in
God. She was kind and always met with
pleasure her many friends. In
the days of her strength she was a faithful
attendant at the house of
God. Always present at all services. The
good Father giveth his
beloved sleep. She rests from her labors and
leaves a record of loyal
service to our God.

The funeral services were held at the home of
her daughter, MRS. RAY,
Sunday, June 6, l9l5, Rev. A.B. Cornell, of
Van Wert, giving the
address. Her body was laid to rest by the
side of her husband and
awaits the coming of the Lord.
