Decatur County Journal
September 2, l9l5

After an illness of one month during which
she suffered intensely, MRS.
PETER CRUIKSHANK passed away at 8:30 last
Sunday morning. The funeral
services were held in the Methodist Church at
2 p.m. Monday, conducted
by Rev. Guy J. Fansher, the Pastor, assisted
by Rev. B. Frank Jacobs,
Pastor of the Presbyterian Church. The
wealth of floral decorations,
the house filled with friends and the long
line of autos which followed
the remains to Leon Cemetery all betokened
the high regard and love felt
for this good woman.

The following obituary was read at the
services:

MORILLO LINTON, oldest daughter of L. and
JULIA A. LINTON, was born in
Leesville, Indiana, June 30, l850. She came
with her parents to Leon,
Iowa, in the spring of l856, where they lived
a few years until her
father bought and moved to a farm about six
miles south of Leon, where
she grew to womanhood.

In early life she united with the Methodist
Episcopal Church, and
continued a consistent Christian until the
close of life.

On February 27, l873, she was united in
marriage with P. CRUIKSHANK, who
with two children, WALTER and ETHEL, survive
her, and were present at
her bedside during her last sickness and
death.
She is also survived by a sister, MRS. SALLIE
LEHMAN, of Hastings,
Nebraska, and two brothers, twins, THORNTON
and WILLIAM, of Everett,
Washington.

For the last twenty-five years they have
lived in Leon, and her life has
been identified with church and social work.
She was never too busy to
comfort the sorrowing or speak a word of
cheer to the discouraged and
depressed. With her decease which occurred
Sunday morning, August 29,
l9l5, closed an active and useful life.
A good woman has gone, but her influence will
continue down the vistas
of time, and her memory will be an
inspiration and uplift for nobler
thoughts and deeds.
