MARION FULLER was a son of EDWARD and ELIZA
FULLER, born in Penn.,
December 2, l844, and died at his home in Van
Wert, Iowa, March 28,
l9l5, aged 70 years, 3 months and 24 days.

When a child his parents moved to Ravanna,
Ohio, and this was his home
till young manhood. He was a strong, robust
healthy youth, just such as
the government desired for soldiers. He
heard the call to arms. His
heart burned within him till his patriotic
zeal led him to answer the
call and he enlisted in Battery A. lst Ohio,
In August l862. He was a
faithful soldier, rendering efficient service
whenever duty summoned
him. During that time he was for a long time
confined to the hospital,
suffering with typhoid fever. He continued
in the service till the end
of the war and was discharged in July l865.

After this he returned to his home in Ohio.
Though weakened by the
vigors of military service, he soon regained
his usual health and
strength.

In August, the 26th, l866, he was married in
Kent, Ohio, to MISS MARY A.
CHAPMAN, who with six of their nine children
and l6 grandchildren, one
sister and one half brother live to mourn his
death.

The children are: WILL, ORIN, MRS. JAY, of
Van Wert; FRED, of Decatur;
MRS. BRECKENRIDGE, of Indianola, and MRS. IDA
GRIMM, of New Bloomfield,
Mo. These all have looked to him for advice
and needed assistance, and
will all recall his deeds of kindness when
they think of his service for
them.

MR. FULLER came to Iowa in February l876 and
has since that time lived
in the vicinity of Van Wert. Most of his
younger years were spent on
the farm. When he moved into Van Wert he
first engaged in the livery
business; afterward for several years he was
proprietor of the Palace
Hotel. During the time of his residence in
this city he has been
honored at times by being elected to various
city offices.

In l878 he united with the Church of Christ
of Cheeney School House,
near Weldon. When he came to Van Wert he was
associated with the church
here and took an active part in all the
various departments. He was a
student of the scripture, a helper in all
good works and when in health
was ready for any service. He had been
chosen at times, as an officer
in the church. He trusted in the Lord and
served Him loyally. He was
especially interested in the building of the
new church and delighted in
the work of the Bible School.

He was a charter member of the I.O.O.F.
lodge, of Van Wert, No. 2l2. He
was an honored member of this lodge. There
being no official position
that he had not filled. For many years he
had been Chaplain of the
Order. In l907 he was appointed district
deputy Grand Master. He was a
member in good standing at the time of his
death.

There is another Order, represented here, the
G.A.R. Post, of which he
was a loyal member. The members of this
Order are being thinned by the
call of the death Messenger.

MR. FULLER was proud of his record as a
soldier and associated with
remaining comrades in their gatherings in the
Post headquarters and
would join them in any honored service. He
has left all, post, lodge,
family and church. He has finished his work
on earth. His record is as
an open book. It is his faith, his life for
the Christ, his service
rendered in the Master's name that will
comfort him when he stands in
the presence of the Judge of all the earth.
