Obituary ~ Paul Wesley Moler
October 26, 1923 ~ January 14, 2017

Paul Wesley Moler, age 93, of Osceola, Iowa, the son of William Wesley “Wes” and Lela Pearl (Monroe) Moler, was born October 26, 1923, in Forestburg, Texas. He died at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

Paul grew up and attended school in Forestburg, Texas. He graduated in 1941. On February 23, 1943, he entered the United States Army and served in the 917th Air Service Emergency Squadron. He packed parachutes and also was a glider mechanic. After his honorable discharge on January 11, 1946, he, his brother, Curtis, and his parents bought a grocery store in Hobbs, New Mexico. His parents operated it while both Paul and his brother worked on the oil riggs.

On August 2, 1948, Paul was united in marriage to Tishia Eurana Rogers in Hobbs, New Mexico. They lived in Hobbs. In 1952, they moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico and operated the Ruidoso Lodge. In 1953, they moved to Arkansas and were blessed with their three daughters, Judy, Betty, and Doris. The family moved to the Ozarks at Mountainburg, Arkansas in 1959, and to Decatur County, Iowa in 1960. Paul farmed and also did concrete construction work for the Labors Local 177. He helped build Merle Hay Mall, Adventureland, the Botanical Center, Mercy Hospital, and many other buildings in Des Moines. After retirement, Paul worked at the Humeston Sale Barn.

He loved fishing and square dancing. He also enjoyed playing Dominos, cards, and Cribbage. He was good with numbers and tying knots. Over the years, Paul was a member of the Masons, American Legion, and a square dancing club.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, Curtis.

Survivors include his wife, Tishia of Osceola, Iowa; daughters, Judy Lewis and husband, Craig, of Osceola, Betty Sullivan and husband, Jim, of Weldon, Iowa, and Doris Moler of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Travis Boyce and Sheri, Stacey & Lyle Potter, Kimberly & Dan Brimm, and Daniel & Emily Sullivan; 10 great grandchildren, Alex K Boyce, Trevor Boyce, Danelle Potter, Kyle Potter, Amy Potter, Jade Brimm, Tyler Brimm, Teagan Sullivan, Liam Sullivan, and Declan Sullivan; great, great grandchildren, Dalton and Emitt Dohrn; nephews, Doyle & Charlette Moler, Loyd & Pam Moler, and Jimmy & Peggy Moler; great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating. Burial will be the Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.

Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
