Obituary ~ Dale LeRoy Easton
October 13, 1946 - February 20, 2012

Dale LeRoy Easton, age 65 of Leon, Iowa, was born to John and Marjorie (Fitch) Easton on October 13, 1946 in Leon. He died on February 20, 2012 in Des Moines, Iowa.

On September 12, 1980, he was united in marriage to Sheryl Smith. Dale and Sheryl had 3 children: Nicholas John, Tyler Cole, and Vanessa Lin. Dale’s pride and joy were his children. He loved spending time with his family.

Dale believed the Christian faith, was baptized, and regularly attended church with his family. He was a good provider, and was an excellent husband and father.

Dale lived in Decatur County all of his life. After his mother’s death, Dale stayed with his father until his father’s death. He worked on farms and worked various trades for several years. In 1974, Dale began working in the maintenance department of Decatur County Hospital. He retired in 2008, having completed 34 years of service. Dale always took pride in his work and was meticulous with all his duties.

During his retirement, due to Parkinson’s Disease, Dale was restricted from so many things that he loved to do. He did not complain, however, and took comfort in his faith.

Dale enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, working with wood crafts, coin collecting, mowing yards with his sons, and spending time with family and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his son Nicholas, sisters Leora Whitman and Joyce Norris, and brothers Harold and Gary Easton.

Surviving are wife Sheryl Easton of Leon; son Tyler Easton and fiancée Kim of Roscoe, Illinois; daughter Vanessa Easton of Des Moines; sisters Shirley Pyle, Lois Cannon (Gene) of Leon; brothers Charles Easton (Joyce) of Leon, Arthur Easton of Weldon; mother-in-law Mary Smith of Leon; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will be at Braden Cemetery near Chillicothe, Missouri at 3:30 p.m. Friday, under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home of Chillicothe. A memorial fund has been established by the family.
