Paul Arlis Eastin, age 82 of Leon, Iowa, the son of Oscar Arlis and Gladys Laura Pearl (Akes) Eastin, was born August 25, 1928, in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at Westview Acres in Leon on Saturday, January 8, 2011.

Paul's dad was his schoolteacher until he graduated from the eighth grade. He then went on to school and graduated from Weldon High School in 1948 with a class of four. On February 6, 1950, he married Evelyn Florence Horney. Paul and Evelyn together raised two sons, Larry Wayne and Gary Arlis.

Paul worked as a farm hand for several different farmers in the Weldon area before working at Warren Ready Mix and Leon Concrete. In January 1963, he started working at the State Department of Transportation in Leon and continued until his retirement in December 1990. Paul was a hard worker and enjoyed being around people.

In April 2007, Paul moved into Westview Acres in Leon due to failing health.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister-in-law Twyla Horney; brother-in-law Don Stark; nephew Keith Stark; several aunts and uncles; and cousins.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn Eastin of Leon; sons, Larry Wayne and Sheila Hamilton of Lawson, Missouri, and Gary and Janis Eastin of Leon; three grandsons, Shawn & Donna Hamilton of Texas, Lonnie & Alesia Hamilton of Missouri, and Brandon & Michelle Eastin of Leon; great grandchildren, Ashley Kessler, Abigail and Isabella Hamilton, Jeremiah Jordan, Jacob and Judd Easton; great granddaughter Aubrey Kessler; brother Larry L. and Louellen Eastin of Leon; nephew Dennis & Amy Eastin and daughter Emma of Bethany, Missouri; niece Colleeen & Joe Wright of South Carolina; great nephew Tony & Carrie Young and children, Hunter, Mason and Maggie; great nieces, Estelle Young and Rachel Smith; brother-in-law Joe Horney of Davis City, Iowa; sister-in-law Nina Stark of Casper, Wyoming; nephews, Dennis & Cindy Horney of Leon, Doug & Brenda Horney of Davis City, Dave & Susan Horney of Leon, Kevin Stark and Darin Stark, both of Wyoming; nieces, Debbie & Don Coe of Plano, Iowa, Cathy Turner of Wyoming and Carol & Roger Wortman of Shannon City, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Violet Lewis, Marguerite & Glen Hartman and Farrell & Laverna Eastin, all of Lincoln, Nebraska and Freda & Melvin Gilliland of Burlington, Washington; and other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.]
