Leon, Decatur County, IowaShawna Christina Yelle, age 41, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick Albert and Sandra Louise (Crow) Amrhein, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 21, 1975. She died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday, August 28, 2016.
Shawna grew up in St. Louis and graduated from River View Gardens High School in 1993. She and Christopher Bernard Yelle were married January 13, 1993, in St. Louis. While Chris served in the United States Marine Corp, they lived in Twentynine Palms, California. In 1999, after his discharge, they settled in Leon, Iowa to raise their three children, Christopher, Nathan, and Amber.
Shawna’s life was her family. She enjoyed attending all their activities. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Kaplan University in 2015, in human services. Helping take care of other people was her passion throughout her life and continued by being an organ donor after her death.
Preceding her in death was her father; and her uncle Mike, whom she gave a kidney to in the year 2000.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Yelle of Leon; children, Christopher Yelle of Leon, Nathan and Eve Yelle of Des Moines, Iowa, and Amber Yelle of Lamoni, Iowa; mother, Sandy Amrhein of Leon; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial celebration of life service will be held at Trinity Christian Church at Decatur, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016, with Rev. Terry D. Roberts officiating.
