William “Bill” Ernest Scott was born on October 23, 1945, in Leon, Iowa to Walter E. and Irene G. (Deemer) Scott. He graduated from Leon High School and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

Upon arriving home, he bought his union card and took up residence in Des Moines, Iowa. He proudly continued his entire working career as a union sheet metal worker until his retirement. He returned to Leon after retirement and bought a small farm. After realizing that he missed the hustle and bustle of the big city, he returned to Des Moines.

Three and half years ago he had the opportunity to move to Palmer, Alaska and spend some time with his son.

Bill succumbed to heart failure on October 7, 2016, in Alaska. He passed away peacefully at his son's home surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Blye Evans & Carl, daughter, Karla Jo Hegna & Jeff, son, Allen William Scott, grandchildren, Alana Irene Scott and Dayne Charles Scott, and nieces, Dana Carleen Lapeyrouse and Kellie Lyn Kozeliski.

The family is having a visitation at Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon on Wednesday, October 19th, 4 to 8 p.m.
