Decatur County Journal
March l4, l9l5

SARAH P. GIBSON was born in Kentucky, January
2, l825, and moved with
her parents to Monroe County, Iowa, and was
united in marriage to JOHN
W. HARROW, in l846, where they resided until
the spring of l857, when
they moved to Decatur County and about a year
later to Ringgold County.
In l867, they moved west of Leon, where they
made their home until l897.

In l886 her husband died, leaving her to do
life's battles alone, which
she bravely and conscientiously did.

They were the parents of eight children:
NANCY JANE, SAMUEL A., WILLIAM
C., ELIZABETH and EVA J. HARROW. MRS. HARROW
united with the Methodist
Episcopal Church in early life, and continued
a consistent member
thereof, to the close of her earthly
pilgrimage.

About six years ago, she moved with her
daughter, EVA STEVENS, to
Sterling, Colo., where she quietly spent her
closing years, until the
Messenger called her home, Sunday, February
28, l9l5.

A kind neighbor, a faithful friend and a
loving mother, has gone to her
reward. Her remains were brought to Leon by
her daughter, EVA, where
funeral services were conducted in the M.E.
Church, Tuesday, March 2, by
J.F. Garber, of the Brethren Church, who was
an old neighbor and warm
friend of the family. She was laid to rest
in the Franklin Cemetery by
the side of her husband, to await the glories
of the resurrection morn.
