Decatur County Journal
March 2l, l9l5

MRS. FRANK M. WALKER crossed the silent river
and has joined the
immortals on that other shore. She died at
the home of her son, W.S.
WALKER near Spickard, In Grundy Co., Mo.,
March 3rd. A.D. l9l5, at
peace with God and all mankind. Her life was
a benediction to all who
knew her, for hers was a charming
personality, that it was ever a
pleasure to meet, and we speak after an
acquaintance of fifty years.
When her husband passed away last October we
were at Jamesport, Mo.,
attending the funeral of an intimate friend
and brother, or should have
been at his memorial service. The casket was
brought to Pleasanton,
March 4th, and the funeral services conducted
by the writer (at the
Saints Church, the Christian Church was
undergoing repairs which was the
church of her choice and where she has made
her home for many years.)
The day was cruel, could scarcely have been
worse, a blizzard raged
without, but a grief stricken congregation
was present. The lesson
suited the occasion, the text was taken from
Jerh., and the songs were
wisely selected and tenderly rendered. Great
sheaves of hot house roses
and a sheaf of ripened wheat covered the
casket typical of a beautiful
character and well ripened life. The parting
look taken through tears
of affection and then taken by loving hands
and laid beside her husband
in the Hamilton Cemetery. But she was
embalmed in the hearts of all who
knew her biography.

She was born in Wayne, Co., Ohio July 27th,
l846, came with her parents
to Pleasanton when l4 years of age, was
married to F.M. WALKER in l864,
lived for a time in Princeton, Mo., and Davis
City for a time, but the
major part of her life was spent in this
community. She was the mother
of five children one of whom (IVY) died in
infancy. The others, W.S.
and ARTHUR, MRS. MATTIE COZAD, and MRS.
ESTELLA MACEY, were present at
her funeral. She was preeminently a good
woman, in every walk of life
and leaves a sweet and fragrant record for
her children and friends,
previous footprints on the pages of time.
Turly at first, we feed from
mother's bosom, but always from her heart,
let me write it here.

I miss thee my Mother, thy image
is still

The deepest impressed on my
heart.

So will it be with these Mothers' children.
May God comfort and guide
them, is my prayer for Jesus sake.
