Jacob Franklin Hale, son of John D. and
Elizabeth Hale, was born Feb. 27, 1861, at
Atlanta, Illinois, and departed this life,
Nov. 18, 1932, at the age of 71 years,
9months, and 22 days. He was the older of
two children, the other, a girl, dying in
infancy.

After the death of his mother, he and
his father came to Iowa and settled on a farm
near Garden Grove, in March, 1892.

On October 19, 1892, he was united in
marriage to Miss Anna Ehm, and to this union
were born two children, Arthur, now deceased
and Dean of Leon.

At an early age he united the the
Baptist church at Atlanta and has tried to
serve his Master ever since. After coming to
Iowa, he united with the old church of the
Brethren, known as the Franklin church.

In 1906, he returned to Illinois and
remained until 1927, at which time he
returned to Leon to make his home with his
son.

He was always a devoted Christian and
worker and never missed an opportunity to
attend church serves of any kind. He met
with and worshipped with the Assemblies of
God church after returning to Leon. He never
tired of reading his Bible, of serving his
Master, and was patient in his long illness.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his son
Dean and wife, and two grandchildren, Lousie
and Lester Hale and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Stewart
Funeral Home in Leon, conducted by Geo. R.
Lamb, pastor of the Assemblies of God church.
Interment was made in the Leon cemetary.
