GEORGE DOW SCALES was born near Clinton,
Ill., October 29, l886. In
l896 at the age of l0 years, he moved with
his parents to Decatur
County. From this time he has lived with his
parents near Davis City,
becoming their main help until about a year
ago it became necessary to
place him in the hospital at Clarinda for
treatment, where after a short
time of suffering he was taken seriously ill
and died Tuesday morning,
October l3, l9l4, at the age of 27 years, ll
months and l4 days.

He leaves a father and mother, three sisters
and one brother, who have
the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement.

The body was brought to Davis City, where the
funeral was held in the
M.E. Church, Rev. E.F. Partridge officiating
and he was laid to rest in
the Pleasanton Cemetery.
