JOHN MERLE (MIKE) MCCARTY, son of FRED and ANNA MCCARTY, born June 21, 1913 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and died March 25, 1978 in Marshall, Mo., age 64 years and 9 months.

In 1938, he moved to Leon, Iowa. He was united in marriage to LOIS DUFFUS in 1940 and to this union were born two daughters, ANN MARIE and PAMELA JANE.

MIKE worked for the Sinclair Refining Company for 27 years and for 17 years was an independent oil jobber. He retired in January, 1975.

He was a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church and the Leon Gold and Country Club.

Survivors are widow, LOIS; ANNA and LARRY WARIN and children BRADLEY ALLEN and SHELLI ANN, Des Moines; PAM and TERRY COBB and children, KELLIE and JULIE, Ames, Iowa: two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. MCCARTY, Emmetsburg, Iowa; and FRED A. MCCARTY, Algona, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
