Bessie Irene Mason, the daughter of John Leslie Stark and Esther Merle Cole Stark, was born March 6, 1923, on a farm near Grand River and died of cancer April 13, 2002, at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. She was 79.

She married Alfred Junior Mason on Nov. 28, 1958, in Osceola. She worked as a records department supervisor for Continental Insurance Company for more than 30 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Mason lived in Burbank, Calif. from 1958 to 1992 when they moved to Hewitt, Texas. They moved to Osceola this past month.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Noel, Dale, Clifford and Donald Stark; three sisters, Ruby Stark, Ruth Camp and Marjorie Akes and an infant brother.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband; three brothers, Neil Stark and his wife, Goldie Stark, of Grand River, Edgar "Ted" Stark of Creston and Merlyn Stark and his wife, Lois Stark, of Eagle Grove.; five sisters, Oneta Redman and Doris Redman, both of Osceola; Martha Reasoner of Indianola, Ellen Peterson of Grand River and JoAnn Brink of Kansas City, Mo.; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mason were April 16 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, the Rev. Phil Coe officiating. Organist was Pennie Gonseth and musical selections were In the Garden and How Great Thou Art.

Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola.
