LETHA MANCHESTER, daughter of URIAH LINCOLN and LILLIAN ADEL FOGELMAN PERKS, was born December 25, 1902 at Akron, Missouri, and moved to Decatur County when 2 years old. She passed away at the Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday morning; December 25, 1978 at the age of 76 years.

On December 21, 1919 she was united in marriage to CHARLES LEROY MANCHESTER at the home of her parents near Leon. To this union three daughters were born.

LETHA’s greatest enjoyment was to be surrounded by her family and friends. One if the highlights of her life was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on December 21, 1969.

She was preoccupied in farming with her husband until CHARLES’ death in 1974. LETHA has made Leon her home for the past four years.

LETHA was baptized into the Leon Brethren Church in 1930. In later life she attended the Decatur Pentecostal Church at Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers; one sister; and one grandson, ROY DEAN MELOS.

Survivors are three daughters: Mrs. JOE (MARGUERITA) DOBSON, Leon, Iowa; Mrs. GLENN (HELEN) CAMPBELL, Mt. Ayr, Iowa; and Mrs. STANLEY (ROWENA) MELOS, Grimes, Iowa; three grandsons and their wives; GARY and DEANNA CAMPBELL, Decatur; and DENNIS and DONNA CAMPBELL, Kellerton; and RON and MARY DOBSON, Marengo; three granddaughters and their husbands: ROBERT and SHERYL SMTIH, Mr. Ayr; GERALD and SUSAN SCHAEFER, Diagonal; and DICK and RHONDA REDMAN, Pella; nine great grandchildren: ROBYNE and RANEA SMITH; DERALD, DANA and DANNETTE SCHAEFER; BRIAN and SHAUN CAMPBELL; JOEL and SHANNON DOBSON; and sisters: BEULAH HATFIELD, Van Wert; and LELA CHOLPEK, West Des Moines; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
