Rosalie LuElla Palmer, age 83, of Van Wert, Iowa, was born September 23, 1931, to George Marion and Ruby Edith (Fry) Cox in Bloomington Township of Decatur County, Iowa. She died at the Clearview Home in Mt. Ayr, Iowa on Sunday, April 26, 2015 after a long struggle with kidney failure and dialysis.

Rosalie attended the Round Knoll Country School near Van Wert and then Van Wert High School. On December 26, 1948, she married Lawrence David Palmer near Van Wert. They were blessed with two sons, Danny and Dennis. Rosalie was a homemaker and mother. She also helped Lawrence on the farm. She enjoyed the outdoors. She became a certified medical aide and worked at Westview, Decatur County Hospital, and Clarke County Hospital.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed raising a garden and flowers. She was a member of the Van Wert Assembly of God Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her in-laws; son, Dennis, in 1975; brothers, Russell Cox and wife Barb, and Donnie Cox; and sister-in-law, Merna Cox. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Palmer of Van Wert; son, Danny Palmer and wife, Martha of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Lacey Palmer Whitaker and Chris Van Winkle, Shawn and Cindy Palmer, Jason and Jo Palmer, Justin and Lauren Palmer, and Stacey Palmer and fiancé Justin Davis; eight great grandchildren, Shayn, Madisyn, Jesse, Jarrett, Haylee, Julia, Cayden, Kennedy, and one expected in June; siblings, Randall Cox and wife Darlene of Osceola, Iowa, Corwin Cox of Grand River, Iowa, and Kay Fierce and husband Dennis of Van Wert; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Burial will be in the Van Wert Cemetery, Van Wert, Iowa.

Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni were in charge of arrangements.
