James Larton Lee, age 73, of rural Leon, Iowa, the son of Francis and Frankie Almeda (Manchester) Lee, was born February 17, 1941, at Iowa City, Iowa. He died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa on Thursday, November 27, 2014.

James enjoyed running on the track team in high school. He graduated from Leon High School with the Class of 1962. He worked for Harry Dougherty at the Ben Franklin Store for ten years before being a farmhand for several local farmers. Then he started doing building remodeling work. He was a concrete finisher for road construction traveling with the crew to Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Minnesota, and South Dakota. He retired in 1992, after 28 years in the business.

On February 14, 1988, James was united in marriage to Sheena Melody Cox at New Salem Baptist Church south of Leon. Her three sons, Dale, Bill, and Scott, became part of his family.

In his free time, James enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He loved looking for arrowheads and other Indian artifacts. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and also attended the Davis City Assembly of God Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Duane Lee. Survivors include his wife, Sheena Lee of Leon; stepsons, Dale Walker of Davis City, Iowa, Bill Worley and Teresa Boynton of Davis City, and Scott Grimm of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Briar Worley, Cole Worley, Braedon Worley, Jessica Dohrn, Ashley Walker, Nele Reynolds, and Destiny Morton; great grandchildren, Lorenzo, Kurious, and Maddie; niece, Wanda and Bob Wilson; nephew, Wayne Lee; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Davis City Assembly of God Church. Memorials may be given at the American State Bank, Lamoni, Iowa to help Sheena Lee.
