VERA LANTZ JOHNSON, daughter of PHILLIP and OLIVE THOMPSON LANTZ, was born June 27, 1897 at Van Wert, Iowa, and died Feb. 8, 1981 at the Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa, Iowa, age 83.

She was born, reared and was married at the family farm near Van Wert. She attended Popcorn Rural School and Van Wert High School.

On Sept. 23, 1917, she married SAMUEL CLYDE JOHNSON. To this union were born four children. She was a member of the Weldon Christian Church, Van Wert Legion Auxiliary and was a charter member of Jolly Neighbors Club.

After retiring from the farm in 1977 they made their home in Eddyville, Iowa. Preceding her in death were parents, brother, two sisters, and daughter-in-law,

Survivors are husband, CLYDE; sister, Mrs. LEONARD MALLATT, Osceola; three sons; WILLARD of Eddyville; GERALD, Warsaw, Mo; ROBERT, Washington, Iowa; daughter, TWYLA EDDY (Mrs. OLIN), Osceola, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces; ESTHER WATSON, Osceola, and NADINE REDAMAN, Van Wert.

[Interment was made at Van Wert Cemetery.]
