OPAL BIRDIE JOHNSON, the second child of O. G. and SARAH (STILL) VANDERPOOL, as born Aug. 1, 1906 in Woodland Township, Decatur County, Iowa and died Feb. 19, 1979 at the Decatur County Hospital, age 70 years, 6 months and 18 days.

She was united in marriage to WILLIAM HOWARD JOHNSON April 16, 1932. To this union two children were born, ODA JOE and SARA JOAN.

OPAL was a member of the Leon Christian Church, Equal Rights Rebekah Lodge No. 419, Past Noble Grands, Sorosis Club and Sunshine Club.

She was preceded in death by parents; two brothers; OREL and RAYMOND (Lefty); and son ODA JOE.

Survivors are husband, HOWARD; daughter JOAN and son-in-law LEO BANNER, St. Marys, Iowa; grandchildren; LEIGH ANN, JAMES and JUDY BRANNER; brother, WALTER VANDERPOOL and wife MAXINE, Leon; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
