MARJORIE HOFFMAN, daughter of ELLEN and CALVIN HOFFMAN, was born in Leon, Iowa, Nov. 29, 1899 and died in St. Petersburg, Fla., Jan. 4, 1976. Memorial services were held Sunday, June 6, when cremains were placed in a family lot in the Leon Cemetery.

Survivors include her sisters and brothers: DOROTHY and husband HAROLD IRWIN; LEO and wife ESTER, St. Petersburg, Fla.; JIM and wife HELEN, Ottumwa, Iowa; MARTHA and HIMENA HOFFMAN, Leon; sister-in-law, KATHARIN BENTZ, Leon; nieces and nephews: M. N. VINER and family, G. F. HOFFMAN and family, and SUE DIXON and family, all of Leon; and Commander J. L. Hoffman of Washington D. C., and his family. Brother FREDERIC died in 1940.

She became a member of Loving Chapel United Methodist Church when a child. Graveside services were in charge of the Rev. WILTON M. GRANT.

She was a graduate of Drake University in elementary education; receive a BA degree from the University of Chicago, and an MA degree from Columbia University. Her first two years of teaching were in Leon and she taught in an inner city school in Hammond, Ind., from 1923 to 1962. She was a 55-year member of P. E. O. and belonged to professional organizations and to various social and cultural groups while in college and during her years in Hammond.
