Lorel Kenneth Hinds, age 78, of Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Alice Arlene (Honn) Hinds, was born February 15, 1936, in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab Center in Lamoni on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.

Lorel attended West Eden country school in Decatur County before attending high school in Leon, Iowa. He then worked at Decatur County Hopsital. He married Mildred Louise Witt, she died September 23, 1978. She was the love of his life. Lorel was an auctioneer for many years and made it a family business. Later in life he owned and operated the gas station and used furniture store in Davis City. He also farmed with his sons, Rick and Greg.

In his spare time, Lorel enjoyed driving through the countryside and sight seeing. He also liked singing, playing his guitar, and writing songs. He never saw a stranger.

Preceding him in death were his dad, Kenneth; wife, Mildred; infant daughter, Joyce; and sister, Ginger Warren. Survivors include his children, Rick (Tommie) Hinds of Grand River, Iowa; Greg (Kelly) Hinds of Davis City, Iowa; Shelley (Tom) West of Osceola, Iowa; Kibby Hinds of Ft. Madison, Iowa; and Carrie (Tommy) White of Osceola, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and great grandchildren; mother, Alice Arlene Hinds of Elkhart, Iowa; sister, Jonda Hinds of Elkhart; brother-in-law, Gary Warren of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Martha Spicer of Lathrop, Missouri; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015, with Pastor Dale Short officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the Family.
